Our research focuses on investigating the optoelectronic properties of low-dimensional semiconductors and exploring their opportunities for various applications. The strategy to overcome the inherent limitations of materials is modulating material properties by chemical and electrical doping, layer-by-layer disassembly, strain application, and multi-dimensional integration. It is of significant importance to tackle the challenges in conventional semiconductors for solving the environmental and global energy issues

The ultimate vision of our research group is to develop next-generation device applications that will host novel material properties we explored. A new class of light-emitting diodes (LEDs) will accelerate the realization of metaverse and optical gas sensing platforms will enable the internet of things (IoT) technology. Beyond the scope of optoelectronic/electronic device applications, we also aim at pioneering optical synapses for neuromorphic computing
